Marianne Millar
“I have a great deal of respect for what the Indian people have endured. I see Native Americans as a symbol of that spirit which survives adversity.” With these words, Marianne Millar initiates us into her world of American Indian Art.
Born and raised in Southern California, Marianne received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the University of California at Davis. Her earliest memories are of visiting Indian reservations and trading posts throughout the West with her family. It was here that her interest in the Native American and Southwestern culture was born.
Marianne’s aim is to imbue each portrait with distinct character and personality. The colors, the detail, the passion, and the emotion combine in each painting to captivate the viewer time and time again. Marianne brings the viewer closer to her subject, the Native American, and sheds new light on their past and their relationship to the present.
