Yenny Cocq
Yenny is an internationally recognized artist showing in galleries in the the US and Europe. She presently owns an exhibit space in Copenhagen, Denmark. This space functions also as a collaborative salon and interaction space and is frequented by Danish and international artists.
Her two dimensional work has evolved from surrealistic, sublime landscapes to geometric abstractions. The latest work is a combination of printmaking techniques and application of a variety of acrylic mediums. She applies techniques such as pouring, scraping, masking, layering and glazing. Linear geometric patterns are overlaid in contrast to random, sometimes fractal-like patterns from nature.
Yenny also creates figurative sculpture, challenged by one of nature’s most complex and beautiful forms — the human body. She has refined the human figure to basic, almost geometric forms using the human form to portray an idea or story. She gives life to her subjects by capturing their innermost emotions while expressing her own romantic longings. Minute nuances in posture or tilts of the head convey a variety of expression.
Viewers merge their perceptions of the experiences and passions reflected in the sculptures with their own. This provokes something unique for each viewer. Some may be prompted to “playing dolls” with the figures, thus changing their intended communication and making the “story” their own.
