Emanuela Aureli
i make drawings
to release the steam of the mundane
and ease my mind by hand.
i make drawings
to chase down visions
of lines and dots and shapes
in vivid colors.
i make drawings
in celebration of future memories
in cheerful modes of joy
on paper
with bright magic markers.
After decades of professional experience and practice as a studio jewelry maker, I only recently decided to ‘come out’ with drawing and show in public. I have been drawing forever, the act of drawing always connected to a personal repertoire of ideas, stacked away in sketchbooks, folders and paper clippings and trusted treasure chests for joyful re-discoveries. Most of my current drawings are vivid recordings of thoughts, dreams and visions, translated into bold shapes of lines and color in intimate arrangements on paper.
