Light has color, and in a painting, the color that is paint becomes light itself. I enjoy creating spaces of light and shadow and making figures that show gesture and expression. My formal art education began in Denver. In 1992, I graduated at University of Colorado with a bachelor of Fine Arts. I studied with area artists and was very active with several art guilds, where my works were juried into numerous shows and won awards. Since 2006, I have been an active member of SFSA. My subjects in oil have included landscapes and figurals — both people and animals. Most recently, I have been interested in the gestures and colors of plant forms. Their shapes suggest to me a bridge between realism and abstraction.
